Play is fun... yet it offers so much more than joy alone!
When children engage in play, their brains release a variety of natural chemicals that
- boost mood
- strengthen relationships (when playing with another)
- reduce stress
- create a feeling of relaxation
- support learning and motivation
- regulate emotions
Play is incredibly powerful - its a bit like a magic potion!
It's one of the reasons we use play in our work with young people, and it's why we're such big advocates for play.
If a child is having a hard time, offer them a moment to play. And if you can, join in and play with them for a moment.
